Come And See

When Yeshua called his first disciples, he asked them, "What do you seek?" When they reply, he tells them, "Come and see." Emet HaTorah director, Darren Huckey, explores this very Jewish response of Yeshua and how he is still asking his disciples the same question today. This teaching is intended to have us zoom back out at the bigger picture of what it means to be a disciple of Yeshua and why understanding him on his terms is critical for our spiritual development.

To Kindle A Soul

Parashat Beha'alotcha - Numbers 8:1-12:15

As you have probably noticed, there is almost always something fascinating to discuss at the very beginning of the weekly Torah portions. This week is no exception. Parashat Beha'alotcha begins with the instructions on how Aaron, the kohen gadol (high priest), should kindle the menorah for the Tabernacle. It begins:

Now the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, "Speak to Aaron and say to him, When you set up [baha'alotcha] the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lampstand." (Numbers 8:1-2)

Yeshua and Torah

Many times we are asked why we focus so much on studying and teaching the Torah alongside the teachings of Yeshua. The answer to that is quite simple. Yeshua was a Torah teacher. He was a first century rabbi, expounding upon the concepts of Torah and sharing his interpretations and rulings for the practical applications of Torah with his disciples. Many people do not approach the teachings of Yeshua from this perspective, simply because they do not realize his focus was upon bringing the hearts of his followers closer to the Torah.

Restoring the Gospel - Part 3

When we speak of the Gospel, we need to know what we are talking about. We need to know what the Bible calls the Gospel, rather than what our doctrines and traditions have called the Gospel. Let’s begin by looking at the Gospel message of John the Immerser.

Abraham the Disciple-Maker
