What images come to mind when you think of the future? Many people think of science fiction images of space travel, advanced technology, and dystopian societies. When I think of the future, I think of something quite different. Let me explain…
You may have heard of the movie, The Greatest Showman. It’s a modern musical, a re-telling of the story of P. T. Barnum, the creator of the famous Barnum & Bailey Circus. According to the movie, Barnum had an amazing vision for the future. And no matter what cards were stacked against him or obstacles that were placed in his way, he rose above them to build that dream. All men were equal in his eyes and he saw how handicaps and hindrances in life could be turned to their advantage. The chorus to the opening song, A Million Dreams, is a loud message of what the script-writer saw as Barnum's hope for the future:
They can say, they can say it all sounds crazy
They can say, they can say I've lost my mind
I don't care, I don't care, so call me crazy
We can live in a world that we design
‘Cause every night I lie in bed
The brightest colors fill my head
A million dreams are keeping me awake
I think of what the world could be
A vision of the one I see
A million dreams is all it's gonna take
A million dreams for the world we're gonna make
What does this have to do with Emet HaTorah and Messianic Judaism? Like P. T. Barnam, I have a vision of the future. I see a time when Yeshua is sitting on his throne in Jerusalem and the Torah is going forth from Zion. I see Messianic Judaism being the religion that will supersede both Christianity and Judaism, bringing faith in Yeshua together with the faith of Yeshua. I see the Torah being the baseline of life for all who call on the name of the LORD.
But we have a long way to go before this becomes a reality. We have to work to turn this dream into something tangible in our lifetime. Too many times we think we are to simply wait on Yeshua to show up and fix everything. But we should be creating a world where he will be welcome to return. A world where love for God and love for our fellowman is supreme and rises above our differences. A world in which the Kingdom is breaking forth in each one of our lives. A world in which no man has to teach his neighbor to love and fear the LORD. It’s this world that I long to experience and this world that drives our mission at Emet HaTorah. We want to see disciples of Yeshua connected with the eternal Torah of God in a way that transforms not only their lives, but the lives of those around them.
You can say I’m crazy, but this is my vision and how I see the future. I see a time when the Kingdom is restored to Israel and followers of Yeshua will worship the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in spirit and in truth. We will worship as one without theological arguments that divide us, without hate, without prejudice. We will truly love God whole-heartedly without reservation. We will love as Yeshua loved and live and act as the royal citizens of the Holy Kingdom that we are.
I have a million vivid dreams for the future and the coming Kingdom. Through the Holy Scriptures, the LORD has given His children a picture of the world He desires. It’s up to us, however, to turn this dream into reality. Would you like to be a part of this dream? Then share our vision with others and help us work towards the realization of the Kingdom of our Messiah in our lifetime. Passionately pray for us and other Messianic ministries working to change our current reality into one driven by a vision for Messianic Judaism affecting the world. You could also consider supporting our mission through volunteering or financially contributing to Emet HaTorah. If we can dream together and work together, we can see a wave of godliness begin to sweep across this world.
A million dreams are keeping me awake. I think of what the world could be, a vision of the one I see. Can you see it, too? Let’s dream together and make this world a better place by connecting disciples of Yeshua to the eternal Torah of God, so that we can live out the principles of the Kingdom today, rather than waiting for Yeshua to do all the work. May the Holy One of Israel give you new vision for a Kingdom He wishes to establish through His people.
